Joining the NEGGB

The NEGGB provide motorcycle marshals for England, Scotland and Wales for over 650 events throughout the year plus a variety of charity escorts.

To help us cope with the ever growing demand we are always looking for new members to join the ranks of the NEGGB.

The following steps explain the process.

1.  You must...

    •  be aged 25 or older
    •  hold an Advanced Riding Certificate (IAM, RoSPA or similar) and are able to produce
        your certificate upon request.

2.  Contact your local NEGGB Regional Coordinator who will explain the role in greater detail.

3.  Contact kathrynmcclelland@britishcycling.org.uk who will supply you with an Application form and will confirm your Certification. Once processed you will be given access to an on-line British Cycling theory training package which concludes with a test.

4. Upon successfully completing the on-line test your Regional Coordinator will contact you to start your live training.

Training

All members are required to meet structured training regimes if they wish to carry out marshalling duties on either British Cycling or British Triathlon Federation events.
British Cycling
New members must undertake a 3-part test as follows:
  1. Verification of age and Advanced Riding Certification qualification
  2. An on-line British Cycling theory training package with assessment
  3. Practical training and assessment

Upon successfully passing the tests you will become a Level 3 which will allow you to marshal on Regional road races and will automatically give you BC insurance cover during races.

Further training is available for progression to Level 2 and 1 accreditation.

British Triathlon Federation

New members must undertake a 3-part test as follows:

  1. Verification of age and Advanced Riding Certification qualification
